72MW Campus Project

National Civil Co proudly undertook a significant role in the realisation of the 72MW Campus Project, an ambitious venture encompassing the construction of two cutting-edge 36MW data centres, MEL01A and MEL01B, in the high growth hyperscale corridor of Truganina, in Melbourne’s western suburbs. The campus stands as a testament to our commitment to advancing vital infrastructure for the community.

Our engagement was secured via a contract with Hickory, charged with executing critical civil works that would lay the groundwork for the facility's seamless operations. The scope involved an array of works, including but not limited to, bulk earthworks, crushed rock pavements, stormwater drainage systems, kerb and channel construction, and the construction of light- and heavy-duty asphalt pavements.

Externally the works included a VicRoads slip lane comprising a full road widening for facility access to the project site. This external aspect was intricately staged and programmed with the internal works, conducted under heavily staged conditions, and the externally vital road segment constructed and completed amidst heavily trafficked conditions.

VicRoads demanded strict conformance for all works involved in the construction of this slip lane. This entailed rigorous conformance testing for materials, vigilant material tracking, precise level and line tolerances, comprehensive CCTV documentation for all underground stormwater drainage works, and meticulous compaction testing in layers for all pavements. Our unwavering dedication to quality paid off, with every facet of our work receiving resounding approval upon first submission to the relevant external authorities.

The culmination of this project in mid-2023 serves as a testament to National Civil Co's capacity to complete complex endeavours with meticulous staging, resourcing, and programming and our commitment to developing facilities for the modern day and community.
