Ballarat Station

In May 2023, the vicinity of Ballarat Station saw a flurry of activity as dedicated crews rallied round-the-clock to execute track and signalling system upgrades, marking a transformative phase for the precinct. The rigorous undertaking was a part of a larger initiative—a comprehensive $26 million works blitz that spanned the Ballarat, Ararat, and Maryborough lines, culminating in late May.

The program of works included track upgrades, sleeper replacements and ballast tamping which will help ensure the ongoing upkeep of the corridor and improve the reliability of train services.

Central to the endeavour to the Ballarat Station Upgrade Works was National Civil Co. Our engagement, under John Holland Group, extended to crucial facets of the project. National Civil Co took charge of diverse responsibilities, encompassing earthworks, track formation, stormwater drainage, and CSR packages within the broader spectrum of scheduled occupation works.

National Civil Co’s participation unfolded seamlessly during the scheduled occupation works in May 2023, as multiple crews laboured around the clock across various work packages to meet the project's stringent timeline and budget. Amidst this dedication, the teams navigated intricate challenges, including the protection of cultural heritage artifacts, the careful management of unknown services, and the detailed staging of works through public and open spaces. Despite these complexities, the result was a great achievement to the team—a successful project delivered with precision, both in terms of quality and workmanship. This achievement serves as a testament to our commitment to our clients, the community and the environment.

Through tireless dedication and a proactive approach, National Civil Co reinforced its reputation as a dependable partner, delivering impactful social and environmental outcomes that reverberate through the community.
